Deputy Tommy Broughan has said a significant increase in the number of training and job opportunities made available to young people under the age of 25 years is required in the coming months through the further roll out of Youth Guarantee programmes. He also said that new legislation to enable the delivery of certain specific jobs initiatives for young people must be enacted as a matter of priority when the Dáil resumes in mid-September. Deputy Broughan was responding to a report on the roll out of the Youth Guarantee provided to him by the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton.
Deputy Tommy Broughan has recently received reports from the Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald, about Operations Irene and Eitleán which are policing projects of An Garda Síochána. Deputy Broughan welcomed both reports but he said he particularly welcomed Operation Irene which had a focus on policing at identified locations during spells of good weather.
