It was another busy week in the Dáil with a lengthy meeting of the Budgetary Oversight Committee on Tuesday afternoon where we are examining gender proofing the Budget.  On Wednesday afternoon, I was the representative for the Independents4Change Technical Group at the meeting of the Seanad Reform Implementation Group where Senator Michael McDowell was elected Chairperson.

On Wednesday afternoon, I also had an oral Parliamentary Question with the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht on the treatment of hares during coursing trials and later that night I spoke in support of the important Gambling Control Bill 2018.  I also spoke on the Statements on the Future of the European Union and discussed French President Macron’s vision for the future of the EU.  The debate on the amendments to the Road Traffic (Amendments) Bill 2017 also resumed and has finally begun to be put to a vote.

On Thursday morning, I joined a press call with my colleagues from the Independents4Change Technical Group, Deputies Clare Daly, Joan Collins, Catherine Connolly, Mick Wallace and Thomas Pringle, calling for a Yes vote in the referendum on the 25th of May.  On Thursday, I also made a lengthy submission to the Public Consultation on Metrolink and included the very serious concerns of members of Na Fianna GAA Club, Scoil Caitríona and Scoil Mobhí who have contacted me regarding the extraordinary proposal to locate the tunnel boring depot at this community facilities site.

Later that afternoon, I raised the shocking and disturbing events at Clongriffin DART Station with the Minister for Justice and Equality in a Topical Issues Debate.  I called again for permanent and indefinite security at the station and for the Minister to come out a visit the affected communities himself.

On Friday morning, I visited St. Eithne’s Girls’ National School in Raheny, followed by a meeting in the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA), Clontarf.  As always, transcripts (and videos) of my speeches and press releases are updated throughout the week on my website, facebook and twitter.
