It was another busy week in the Dáil with a lengthy meeting of the Budgetary Oversight Committee on Tuesday afternoon where we are examining gender proofing the Budget. On Wednesday afternoon, I was the representative for the Independents4Change Technical Group at the meeting of the Seanad Reform Implementation Group where Senator Michael McDowell was elected Chairperson.
It is very welcome that plans are finally under way for the MetroLink as it is a much needed service. It is of course regrettable that this project has encountered so many delays and Metro North was yet another casualty of the bank guarantee. Dublin’s Northside and districts such as Ballymun and Swords have suffered from a massive public transport deficit for years. It is completely unacceptable that this project was pushed back for so long when it comes to essential public transport services.
